Wallander 25: Indrivaren follows the story of Isabelle and Pontus, two police officers who are facing challenges both in their personal and professional lives. Isabelle wants to put their affair on hold to travel, leaving Pontus dismayed. However, her plans are interrupted when she becomes involved in the investigation of her friend Therese's murder.

Therese was killed by burglars, and suspicion falls on her ex-boyfriend Fabian, who is in debt to dangerous individuals. Fabian offers them Therese's jewels in an attempt to appease them, raising questions about his involvement in the murder.

Another prime suspect emerges in the form of Patrik Lippowski, a violent boxer and ex-convict who was once involved with Isabelle. After fleeing from him and changing her identity from Rebecka to Isabelle, she thought she had escaped him. However, Patrik is later found dead with Isabelle's gun, further complicating the investigation.

As the search for the killer intensifies, Pontus's love for Isabelle is put to the test. Meanwhile, Wallander finds himself advising Katarina when her troublesome teenage daughter starts stealing.
